Family Son of Major Corbet-Ward OBE and Norah G Corbet-Ward Of Merrow, Guildford. He was studying history at Jesus College, Cambridge. His father worked for the British Government in Tanganyika Territor (Kenya). John was due to marry Miss Goldsworth (also from Tanganyika) of 11 St Michaels Road, on 20th April 1939

It is not known how the Corbet Ward family were connected to Southwater,
but John's name was included on the 1939-45 memorial

It is therefore fitting that his brother's name be included as well.
